We recommend 7V to 9V for long term operation. However make sure that the power regulator does not get too hot when any shields are attached!

so were you able to connect both powersupply (7V DC) and USB cable to upload the programs ?
In fact we need to select USB or power mode with the litle jumper close to the power entry.. I still cannot compile and my ShieldBuddy doesn't even appear in the "port" section of Arduino IDE

I've tried 2 different USB Cables yet... Is my ShieldBuddy out of service ?

Please make sure they are high quality usb cables such as those that come with mobile phones. Cheap ones often do not have the current handling capacity. ALso we have found that some PCs cannot supply sufficient current through the usb.
